Nanette is our signature hiker with cross over lacing and lightweight commando sole. Our sustainable Nanette uses leather tanned using the patented OLIVENLEDER extract. This Platinum rated process uses an extract derived from Mediterranean olive tree leaves that are normally discarded and burned during the harvest.
The vegetable extract is metal free and totally non hazardous. It speeds up the tanning process and also allows a reduction in acids, salts and dyes that are normally a necessary part of tannage. The repurposing of the waste material has created additional income streams for farmers.
The resulting leather has a beautiful natural appearance and soft handle. Additionally we have used Olive tanned linings, rubber welts and lightweight soles created using the normally wasted chips of material. Made using a unique process our sole maker recycles the production waste from their factories, giving it new life. The blend retains all the amazing physical and mechanical features of the original superlight sole whilst saving 50% on mineral resources and halving waste disposal.
Tiny air holes are a characteristic of these soles where colours mix, this is a feature and does not affect the performance of your boots. Made in the Grenson Factory, Northamptonshire England. This item is Goodyear Welted.
